Thank you so much to everyone who supported Moveable Feast during the holidays. We had people in our kitchen helping to prepare meals, volunteers packing groceries and others who took time off from work to make food deliveries to our clients. We had many people who made delicious, homemade baked goods for our clients. Several groups held successful toy drives for Moveable Feast, and all of the children that we serve received several gifts including toys, books, clothes, games, MP3 players loaded with music and gift cards. Additionally, several organizations held food and toiletry drives for us, including Mayor Sheila Dixon who also asked for donations of hats, scarves and socks for Moveable Feast. Many of you sent in generous donations to support our work. We were overwhelmed and amazed with the involvement of so many of our supporters and friends. The holidays can be a difficult time for our clients, so thank you very much to everyone who helped to make the holidays a little easier and more joyful for the people that we serve.
Once again,
WJZ Channel 13
has run a clip during holiday season highlighting the good work done by
Moveable Feast and its supporters.
WJZ has run several spots over the
last several years
highlighting the efforts of the
organization. The
spot, which aired on Christmas Day
highlighted the volunteer
efforts of Beth-El congregation in Pikesville, who deliver
much needed meals on Christmas this year. This
year, the congregation says so many volunteers offered to
deliver food baskets that some had to be turned away.
Every week, about 650 people receive donations from Moveable Feasts. Inside the bags, they receive breakfast, stuffing and muffins. This year, courtesy of the SPCA, their dogs and cats will also receive some food. |
