Garden Volunteer
Volunteer at the garden
Soak up some sun, and get your hands dirty by helping us plant, weed, harvest and compost our garden plot. Our plot is part of a larger community garden called the Duncan Street Miracle Garden, located a few blocks away from our office in East Baltimore. We welcome individuals and groups of all ages. No previous experience necessary.
HOURS: Every Friday morning from 9am-11am. We can sometimes accommodate groups on the weekends.
To volunteer at the garden, contact Dietitian Sara McClean at smcclean@mfeast.org.
Grow a starter plant
Contribute to the Moveable Feast garden by growing a starter plant at home.
- Contact Sara McClean to let her know you'll be growing a starter plant and to discuss which fruits or veggies to plant.
- Plant the herbs, vegetables or fruit seeds in a small container. Follow instructions on the seed packets. Please refrain from using chemical fertilizers.
- Send us photos of your starter plant to see it featured on our facebook page or blog.
- In May, after the last frost, set up a time to bring your plant to our office or to transplant it directly in the garden!
Donate supplies
We welcome donations of seed packets, gloves and other garden tools. See our wishlist for more ideas.
Where does the produce go?
All of the fruits and vegetables grown in our garden get incorporated into the nutritious meals we make for people living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Learn more about our garden program here.
